My chosen work sample is an essay that is an example of my ability to cite sources and follow MLA guidelines properly. This ability can be attributed to the foundation that I learned early in my high school years, where my teachers constantly emphasized the importance of establishing the ability to execute MLA format and guidelines. At first, I thought it was simply a trick to just give students more work but in reality, the significance of MLA is to enhance the cleanliness and quality of all academic work. In my chosen work sample, I demonstrated this ability more specifically in multiple ways. In my first draft, there was no format or cleanliness at all, it was indeed a rough draft. But as I built my essay from rough draft to rough draft, I started to slowly incorporate MLA and add local revisions that enhanced my essay. Some examples of how I enhanced my essay through MLA are: at the start of my essay I provided my name, the date, my professor, and the class, which were all properly formatted. Secondly, I provided my last name with the page number of each page in the headers. Thirdly, I cited in text citation properly, for example, after I provided a quote it looked like this “—–,”( Turkle 344).  And lastly, a properly formatted and cited works cited page. These are just some examples of how I followed MLA guidelines and formats that show my ability from learning in high school to reiteration in college. These examples are most definitely attributed to the quality of my essay in the result. Despite my initial thoughts on MLA format and guidelines, I can now appreciate the ease with which I can execute MLA format, a skill that would not have been learned without persistent guidance from teachers in my academic years.
