During my process of revision and building the final draft of Project 2, I implemented many changes both on the global and local levels to, ultimately, enhance the quality, clarity, and effectiveness of getting my points across and delving into the works of both authors. In terms of global revision, I focused a lot on refining my thesis. In my first draft, I believe my thesis was good, but it felt too generic and plain. So in my final draft, I made sure to make it sharper and sound more appealing while also putting forth a stronger and more appealing message. Another part that I focused on globally was the importance of incorporating authors’ works appropriately. Whether it was incorporating the author’s work in paragraphs using Barclays style or introducing the authors individually in the introduction, I put a lot of attention and refinement into this. The first example is the Barclays style reference page. This reference page showed me how to introduce, analyze, and transition the next quote for my body paragraphs. I know that this reference page made my essay better in quality and gave me a way to follow along with the expectations of the project. I also remember in one class, Professor Miller emphasized the importance of introducing the authors and their works in the introduction so the reader can understand who and what is being referenced in the essay. So I knew that I needed to introduce the author’s works and themselves in my final draft. Lastly, I referenced the rubric a lot, referencing this was essential to keeping myself on track with the expectations of the projects so I knew what I needed to have. In terms of local revision and things like grammar, clarity, and tone this was honestly pretty easy for me. This is because I use Grammarly which checks for spelling errors and other grammatical errors. This program not only allows make suggestions for edits and fix spelling errors but it allows me to write freely without having to pause or worry about making spelling mistakes while I’m in the zone of writing. This program was essential in my revision process, however, I still made sure to proofread my essay myself and make sure everything flowed nicely. One last thing that I think was pivotal in my revision process was the revision groups and the meeting with Anjana. These revision methods were helpful because they allowed me to get different perspectives on my essay and how it could be improved. My development process is entirely efficient as it values the importance of utilizing rubrics, reference papers, and feedback, to ensure that I have met every standard and also ensure a high-quality product.
